Resolute Bio implemented Scifeon as the digital laboratory data management foundation for ResOne, its high-throughput molecular intelligence platform.
Before Scifeon
- Excel for inventory and ground-truth data
- Files and other information on shared drives
- No connected record of how an experiment was performed and how results relate
With Scifeon
- Forms, fields and workflows configured to the lab’s actual processes
- Standard operating procedures represented in the system
- Uploaded data connected to its experimental context
- Incident reporting and continuous refinement of workflows
- Configuration that changes with the science, without a development project
Resolute Bio combines deep-learning-based computational pathology with high-resolution mass spectrometry to generate spatial proteomics data directly from human tissue. That work both generates and depends on large volumes of complex data, while the scientific workflows keep evolving. The team had looked at many standard systems and was close to starting its own development project when it found Scifeon.
Resolute implemented Scifeon largely on its own, through demonstration, configuration, user acceptance and production use. Excel kept providing inventory and ground-truth data while information was prepared for upload, so the transition happened in manageable stages. Finding the system let Resolute cancel a development project that would have taken a full year and required hiring a developer.
“Scifeon minimises the administrative work required, reduces the scope for errors and increases the value of the data we accumulate. That frees up more time for the scientific work.”
